Chicken Shawarma Loaded Fries

Make this simple and flavourful recipe for your meal preps! You can easily swap out the fries for frozen ones, or simply freeze a batch of fries and store your chicken and sauce for the week. Everyone loves meal prep, especially when it's this tasty and is almost a cheeky fake away!

Ingredients (4 Servings)

Shawarma Seasoning Mix

  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Shawarma Chicken

Crispy Fries

  • 900g Raw Potatoes, cut into thin fries
  • Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Cumin (to taste)
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil (optional)

White Sauce

  • 100g Low Fat Sour Cream
  • 100g Light Mayo
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon

To Serve

  • Pickled Red Onions
  • Feta Cheese Crumble

Instructions

Shawarma Seasoning Mix

  1. In a small bowl, combine all the seasoning mix ingredients.

Shawarma Chicken

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl.
  2. Add olive oil, minced garlic, 1.5 servings of the shawarma seasoning mix, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.
  3. For best flavour, marinate the chicken overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. When ready to cook, pan fry the chicken in light butter or air fry until fully cooked and golden brown.

Crispy Fries

  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer.
  2. Toss the potato fries with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and olive oil (if using).
  3. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket.
  4. Bake or air fry until crispy and golden brown.

White Sauce

  1. In a bowl, mix together the sour cream, light mayo, minced garlic, black pepper, and lemon juice.
  2. Store the sauce in the fridge until ready to serve.

Serving

  1. Reheat the chicken and fries together in the air fryer for a few minutes.
  2. Serve the chicken and fries with white sauce, pickled red onions, and a sprinkle of feta cheese crumble.

Cooking Tips

  • Marinate the chicken overnight for the best flavour.
  • You can pan fry the chicken in light butter instead of air frying, both methods yield great results.
  • Make the white sauce in bulk and store it in the fridge for use with other meals.
  • When serving and reheating, reheat the chicken and fries together in the air fryer, and only add the sauce and toppings once ready to eat.
